SECRETARY - ATTENDANCE - MIDDLE SCHOOL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, routes calls.
Responds to inquiries from students, staff, parents, and public officials regarding attendance rules and absences.
Maintains building level pupil accounting.
Compiles and submits a variety of weekly, monthly and year-end reports as required.
Maintains and prepares Allegan County Health Department reports.
Prepares, distributes, files records/reports, correspondence etc. related to attendance.
Provides confidential administrative support to the school's administrative team.
Provides professional and positive customer service for students, staff, and visitors to the building.
Regular communication with families of absent students.
Assist in enrollment and the transfer of student files.
Maintain the highest level of confidentiality for all records of the district which are placed under his/her jurisdiction.
Maintaining updated contact information from families.
Provides appropriate first aid and manages student injury records. .
Manage student messages from parents.
Participant in monthly attendance meetings with administration.
Other duties as assigned by the building administrator.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, currency, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Skilled in word-processing, data processing, spreadsheets, Google Suite and desktop publishing.
Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: A High School diploma or GED with an Associate Degree or higher preferred. Two to four years of related experience is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is almost continuously required to sit, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk and stand. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and continuously will repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times as in typing. The employee must occasionally lift and/or push up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Immediate start is available. 38 weeks per year (Mid-August through early June); 7 hours/day, 35 hours per week (7:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.); Class II

SALARY: Based on Secretarial Bargaining Unit Agreement. Starting base wage of $15.25/hour with the possibility of a higher rate based on experience.
