As a Middle School Special Education Teacher:

This position requires a valid Michigan teaching certificate. We will work with individuals that do not possess a Michigan Teaching Certificate but have a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Special Education or a related field for certification.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Valid Michigan teaching certificate in special education

· Bachelor’s degree in secondary special education

· Ability to conduct basic functional behavior analysis of students

· Experience teaching in special education classrooms is desirable

· Experience in training and directing paraprofessionals is desirable

· Ability to interact positively with and motivate children

· Ability to use data to plan and adjust instruction

· Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of individual students

· Excellent classroom management skills

· Strong belief that all children can and will be successful

· Strong knowledge of recent reading research and best practice

· Able to work with colleagues to improve student outcomes

· Willing to accept responsibility for student learning

· Willing to teach a lesson to students as part of the interview process

SALARY: In accordance with PEA Agreement
