Position Summary

Lincoln County School District #1 is seeking a Secondary Physical Education Teacher to provide high-quality instruction for students in grades [7–12]. The ideal candidate promotes lifelong fitness, positive sportsmanship, and healthy lifestyle choices while maintaining an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Instruction & Curriculum

Plan and deliver standards-based physical education lessons aligned with district and state expectations.
Teach a variety of activities including fitness, team sports, individual sports, wellness, and lifetime recreation skills.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Classroom & Behavior Management

Establish clear expectations for behavior, safety, and participation.
Maintain a structured, positive, and physically safe environment for all students.
Implement routines that ensure proper equipment use, transitions, and injury prevention.

Assessment & Progress Monitoring

Assess student performance using appropriate tools and rubrics.
Track and report progress related to fitness, skill development, and participation.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student growth.

Student Support & Engagement

Encourage leadership, teamwork, and healthy decision-making.
Support students with varying ability levels, including adaptations and accommodations as needed.
Promote respect, inclusivity, and positive peer interactions.

Collaboration & Professionalism

Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, coaches, and administrators.
Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and required trainings.
Maintain accurate records, inventory equipment, and uphold district policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health, or related field.
Valid teaching certification/licensure in Secondary Physical Education from Wyoming PTSB (or ability to obtain).
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to acquire).
Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Must pass a background check per district requirements.

Preferred:

Experience teaching grades 6–12.
Coaching experience or willingness to coach extracurricular athletics.
Background in wellness, fitness instruction, or outdoor education.

Working Conditions

Teaching occurs in gymnasiums, outdoor fields, and fitness spaces.
Requires physical activity, demonstration of skills, and supervision of active students.

Compensation

Salary according to district salary schedule: Base salary of $55,500
Full benefit package offered.
