Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Instruction Aide in Special Education at Elk Ridge. This Part-Time position involves supporting students with diverse learning needs to help them achieve their educational goals. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering the growth and development of all students.

Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support students in academic tasks, including reading, writing, and math, while adapting materials as necessary.
- Provide behavioral support and guidance to students, promoting positive social interactions and conflict resolution.
- Monitor student progress and report observations to the teacher, helping to adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Facilitate small group activities and one-on-one instruction to reinforce learning objectives.
- Assist with classroom management, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.
- Help students with daily living skills, including personal hygiene and self-care, as required.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in special education.
- Collaborate with other educators, specialists, and support staff to create a cohesive educational experience for students.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to school policies and procedures regarding student information.

Requirements
- Bachelors, or Associates Degree, or at least 48 college credits.
- Previous experience working with children, particularly in a special education setting, is highly desirable.
- Understanding of various disabilities and learning challenges, along with effective strategies for supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and follow directions from the lead teacher.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to support learning.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is a plus.
- Background check clearance as required by school policies.
