Special Education Teacher- Emotional Support

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to provide emotional support to students in grades 5 and 6 at our Hopewell location. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of emotional and behavioral challenges faced by students, and will be committed to creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. This full-time position requires collaboration with families, staff, and other professionals to develop and implement effective individualized education plans (IEPs) that promote academic and emotional growth.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and emotional support to students with emotional and behavioral challenges.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies as needed to ensure student success.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion practices and provide necessary accommodations.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Maintain a positive classroom environment that fosters emotional well-being and encourages student engagement.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and progress.
- Provide crisis intervention and conflict resolution support as needed.
- Stay current on best practices in special education and emotional support through professional development opportunities.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate records in compliance with district and state regulations.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Special Education.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with emotional and behavioral challenges, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong knowledge of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to changing student needs.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
