Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Oxford Area High School and Hornet Virtual Academy. This full-time position will involve working with high school students with diverse learning needs, providing individualized support and instruction to help them achieve their academic goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, collaborating with parents, staff, and other professionals to ensure the success of each student.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student.
- Provide direct instruction and support in both in-person and virtual classroom settings.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of students with disabilities.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instructional methods and IEPs as necessary.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for support at home.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and develop effective intervention strategies.
- Provide training and support to staff on best practices for working with students with disabilities.
- Stay informed of current trends and best practices in special education and integrate them into instructional practices.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social and emotional growth.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.

Requirements
- Bachelors and/or Master's degree in Special Education or secondary education
- Valid state certification in Special Education for high school/secondary
- Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs, preferably in both traditional and virtual settings.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws and regulations, including IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Proficiency in using technology and virtual learning platforms to enhance instruction.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
