Position: Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Location: District Wide

Position Type: 171-175 days per year

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview:

Performs intermediate skilled human support work assisting in the provision of speech/language services to students, scheduling students, working with classroom and Special Education Teachers, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the close supervision of the Speech Language Pathologist.

Essential Functions:

Follow documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
Plan for speech/language lessons for students; provides speech/language services to students under the direction of Speech/Language Clinician
Assist the Speech Language Pathologist with speech, language and hearing screening without clinical interpretation.
Document student, patient and client performance (e.g. tallying data for SLP to use), prepare charts, records and graphs; reports findings to the supervising Speech Language Pathologist.
Program and provide instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices.
Assist with clerical duties; prepare materials and schedule activities as directed by the Speech Language Pathologist.
Assist with departmental operations (scheduling, recordkeeping, safety/maintenance of supplies and equipment).

Minimum Qualifications:

Associates/Technical degree with coursework in Speech, Language or Communications, or related field and minimal experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: $29.83 per hours, depending on qualifications and experience.
