PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To provide administrative services for the Human Resources Department. The Benefits Specialist will assist the health insurance carriers and the payroll department in maintaining accurate employee records.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must be proficient in Google Suite and/or Microsoft Office
Must be proficient in the use of technology and software applications

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Process invoices and email to insurance carriers (medical, dental, vision, RX, life) and healthcare consultants
Assist payroll in maintaining deduction additions/changes in CSIU
Enter changes in CSIU in the insurance tab for payroll and other areas as needed
Check insurance rosters to verify accuracy and compare to CSIU
File paperwork and maintain organized records
Update employee health insurance records as needed
Update insurance rates annually in CSIU
Prepare spreadsheet of retirees for 1099s at the end of the year
Track COBRA payments, prepare deposits and reconcile bank accounts
Provide COBRA information to employees upon separation of employment
Collect health insurance premiums from retirees and employees on qualifying leaves
Prepare monthly insurance bills
Process monthly Stop Loss bills
Check figures from the quarterly Tax Office
Process Life Insurance claims and maintain plan census
Organize and conduct Exit Meetings
General assistance of employees in regards to district benefits
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources/Assistant Director of Human Resources
