The Brooklyn Center Community Schools (BCCS) District is seeking applicants to join our Elementary and Secondary School team as a Community Support Coordinator- Social Worker/ Counselor. Essential Job Responsibilities:

Working onsite supports the well-being of students in summer program
Identifies needs and helps to align strategies that will allow for student success
Communicates student needs with program staff, building staff, and teachers
Engages with families regarding student wellbeing and any additional needs that can be met
Engages in outreach to program and non-program participants
Utilizes counseling and/or social work knowledge and techniques to positively engage with students and families in person, over the phone, and via electronic communication
Collaborates with the community engagement team to ensure community needs are met
May support the day to day operations of the program by helping to supervise groups of students in activities and on field trips
Provides support to students in classrooms when needed.

Physical Requirements: Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work occasionally requires exposure to outdoor weather conditions, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment and exposure to bodily fluids; may be required to wear a mask and other personal protective equipment in a pandemic outbreak; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g., business office, light traffic).

Positions available for STEP at BCE and LEAP at BCS

Pay and Benefits: $36.00

Duty Days: June 15-July 23. Additional training will take place the week of June 8.
**Periodic trainings for this position will start May 1, with actual hours starting June 8
Qualifications: Must hold a Minnesota license for school social work or counseling issued by PELSB.
Program Hours: STEP: 8:30am-1:00pm, LEAP/Credit Recovery/ Acceleration: 9:30am-2:00pm
