Description: The Communications Coordinator brings value to NCISC and its 39 member districts in three areas: (1) Internal Communications, (2) Communications Services, and (3) Partnerships.
Supervisor: Executive Director
Work Schedule: 260 days
FLSA status: Exempt
Retirement: IMRF
Essential Duties:
- Website development and maintenance using Blackboard/Finalsite
- Effectively use social media platforms in support of communicating accomplishments, celebrations, goals, objectives, and the strategic plan of NCISC and NCYAA
- Development and management of crisis communications to our staff and/or districts
- Development of any communication from North Cook to various stakeholders
- Creation of videos to promote NCISC and NCYAA programs and services
- Provide communications support to the districts and cooperatives we support
- Create a menu of communication support and services offered to North Cook districts and cooperatives including fees, service agreements, contracts, Intergovernmental Agreements (IGAs), and any other infrastructure necessary to provide such support and services that are revenue generating
- Develop and facilitate communication that results in increased attendance and participation in North Cook’s professional learning offerings and networking opportunities
- Create partnerships with area businesses, non-profit organizations, and other entities to facilitate student internships, service projects, and learning opportunities
- Working knowledge of images and creation of flyers using Canva, Photoshop, and InDesign
- Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro for making edits to pdf files and create fillable forms
- Create forms using JotForm online software that are needed for website integration
- Use of Google email, calendar, documents, and some apps for daily work routines
- Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree is required and Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years work experience in communications/marketing/public relations/journalism is required
- Previous school district communications/public relations experience preferred
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholder groups
- Experience designing materials for print, web, and social media
- Experience building and maintaining websites as well as experience in photography and videography strongly preferred
- Experience developing partnership
- Work collaboratively and independently in a variety of settings and communicate effectively across a broad spectrum of stakeholders
- Technology Skills/Software: Google Suite (Docs/word processing, Sheets/spreadsheets, Slides/presentations, Forms, Calendar; Blackboard/Finalsite; Canva; Adobe Photoshop; Smore
