IMPORTANT NOTE: This non-union, student-specific position is open starting ASAP and will run through the end of the 2024-2025 school year or as outlined in IEP placement/DCYF requirements.

SCHEDULE: 3.5 hrs/day, Monday-Friday

JOB SUMMARY

To provide daily personal care and behavioral support for a student with a disability requiring individualized assistance. The paraeducator will implement IEP services under the supervision of certified staff in accordance with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and District policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

high school diploma or equivalent
passing score of 455 on the ETS© ParaPro Test (or show evidence of 72 college credits)
willingness to complete required OSPI Fundamental Course of Study (FCS) and general paraeducator training hours if not done previously
capable of physically managing tasks related to student assistance (may include lifting, guiding mobility devices, etc.)
strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with children exhibiting challenging behaviors
experience working with children with intensive needs (preferred)
valid First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain upon hire

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

provide direct support to meet physical, emotional, or medical needs as identified in the student's IEP
assist with hygiene routines, toileting, mobility, and other personal care tasks as needed
implement individualized positive behavior support strategies
utilize data collection systems to track student progress on IEP goals and behavior plans
support the student during participation in inclusive and specialized settings
prepare and adapt instructional materials as directed
work as a collaborative team member with general and special education staff
maintain the safety and dignity of the student at all times
adhere to confidentiality laws and professional boundaries
participate in staff meetings and trainings related to the student's unique needs
other duties as assigned
