Substitute Office Assistant (Substitute placement is an on-call, as needed basis.)

DESCRIPTION:

The job of the Office Assistant is done for the purpose of providing support to the front office; conveying information regarding school functions and procedures; and supporting a broad array of services provided to students, parents, guests, staff, and community. Work is controlled and guided by professional practice, district policies and procedures, and directions and expectations as established by the administrator(s).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Greet visitors, parents, students and staff in a welcoming manner.
Answer telephones, directly assists or routes callers to the proper office/person, and makes calls to parents and community members when necessary and directed.
Collect, receipt, and secure financial transactions (e.g. general and ASB funds, lunch counts, fines, fees, fundraisers, etc.), maintaining accurate records in compliance with accounting and record keeping practices.
Perform record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g. proofreading, emailing, copying, filing, faxing, etc.).
Process incoming and outgoing mail, including deliveries, to include distribution to appropriate locations.
Provide health room assistance and administer medication and first aid, as needed.
Maintain and provide service to district copiers, laminators, postage machine, and other office machinery.
Projects a professional image at all times.
Display professional and ethical standards at all times. These expectations include a high degree of confidentiality, courtesy, cooperation, positive attitude, reliability, punctuality, accuracy, and efficiency.
Arrives to work on time and maintains regular and consistent attendance.
Consistently adheres to work schedule.

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent
* Criminal Justice/Fingerprint Clearance
* Valid Washington State Driver's License
* Previous Office Assistant experience in a school district.
* Knowledge of general clerical procedures, including excellent grammar and proofing skills and the ability to maintain accurate and reliable records and data.
* Must possess knowledge of basic office equipment and technology.
