Description:
Elma School District Summer Reading Book Mobile Project Coordinator will work with the Special Service Director to plan and prepare the project, as well as train and organize the two Book Mobile Para educators responsible for providing the Summer Reading Program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The performance elements listed below are for illustrative purposes only and do not reflect an all-inclusive scope of responsibilities.
- Work with lead para educator coordinate the project, including:
- Establishing the Book Mobile route
- Contacting community partners
- Preparing project documents
- Preparing and distributing project flyers
- Preparing inventory
- Managing project budget
- Managing project expenditures
- Other project planning and coordination tasks as needed
- Provide orientation and training session, assist with book and vehicle preparation, and prepare project
- Manage grant reporting requirements, including student sign-in sheets, daily logs, and parent surveys
- Compile project data for reporting effectiveness
- Other duties as required
- The safety and health of students and others are essential functions of this position
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified teacher
- WSP/FBI fingerprint clearance (fee paid by the employee)
- A valid Driver’s License
- Experience with developing and supervising a Summer Reading Program
- Knowledge of early childhood and elementary literacy
- Knowledge of engaging read-aloud strategies for preschool and elementary students
- Knowledge of current popular children’s literature
- Ability to work well on a team
- Ability to coach children to appropriately leveled books
- Ability to engage positively and cheerfully with children, parents, families, and community members
- Ability to safely drive the book van
- Ability to lift small box of books
- Knowledge of challenges of students and families who live in poverty
