Responsibilities: Penn Manor High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Life Skills Special Education Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year. This role will focus on providing meaningful learning opportunities for students with diverse needs within a life skills curriculum. The successful candidate will utilize student data to develop individualized educational plans and foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Essential Function and Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the High School Principal, the Life Skills Special Education Teacher will:

Instructional Planning and Delivery:
- Develop and implement an effective program of instruction based on the district's life skills curriculum and state/national standards.
- Utilize student data, including IEP goals, to create individualized learning plans and adapt instruction to meet diverse needs.
- Establish a consistent instructional schedule and behavior management system that supports an orderly and positive learning environment.
- Provide tiered interventions and differentiated instruction to targeted groups based on data.
- Collect data and maintain accurate records related to attendance, pupil progress, and IEP goals.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work collaboratively with the High School Principal, special education department, and grade-level partners to set strategic academic priorities and implement programs to support student success.
- Collaborate with related service providers (e.g., therapists, counselors) to ensure coordinated support for students.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and the community.
- Generate accurate, efficient, and timely communication with all stakeholders, including parents, regarding student progress and IEP updates.
- Attend IEP meetings and other meetings designed to plan programming for students with disabilities.
IEP and Compliance:
- Adhere to all guidelines associated with IEPs, 504 plans, and individual health care plans for students.
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to special education.
- Implement an effective referral process for academic and behavioral student assistance.
Assessment and Evaluation:
- Work with the High School Principal and special education department to review assessment data and establish goals for strategic instruction.
- Administer PSSA tests and other mandated testing programs as required.

Other Duties

Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Special Education Department.
Support class list assignments and the scheduling process within the building.
Adhere to the laws, policies, procedures and ethical standards associated with the teaching profession.

Qualifications

Active Pennsylvania Special Education certification or appropriate emergency certification in compliance with the PA Department of Education.
Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a life skills setting.
Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaborativelyas part of a team.
