Salary listed is for the 2025-26 SY dependent on experience and education for 180 school days at 7.5 hours per day. Professional Development is currently 5 extra days, this position will have a supplemental 5 days for planning/reporting purposes by timesheet.

Overview

The MTSS/Behavior Support Coordinator serves both the elementary and middle/high school campuses, leading the implementation of schoolwide behavioral and social-emotional systems within a Multi-Tiered System of Supports framework. This role includes direct student services, staff coaching, paraeducator collaboration, intervention coordination, and data analysis to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment across all grade levels.

Key Responsibilities

Systems and Coordination

● Design and coordinate Tier 1 (universal), Tier 2 (targeted), and Tier 3 (intensive) behavioral and SEL supports across both schools.

● Collaborate with administrators and building teams to ensure consistent and aligned implementation of districtwide MTSS and behavior frameworks.

● Lead or participate in schoolwide initiatives such as PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed care.

● Support vertical alignment of SEL and behavioral systems across grade levels and transitions between buildings.

Direct Student Support

● Provide behavior coaching and social-emotional instruction for students needing targeted or intensive interventions.

● Support students through check-in/check-out routines, problem-solving conferences, and de-escalation strategies.

● Assist in classroom re-entry plans, behavior contracts, and coordinated wraparound services for students with ongoing needs.

● Maintain a responsive presence in both buildings to support student regulation and reinforce expectations.

Staff Support and Collaboration

● Partner with general education teachers to create proactive classroom plans and positive behavior supports.

● Coach staff in implementing classroom management strategies and integrating SEL into daily instruction.

● Serve as a resource for staff navigating challenging behaviors, functional behavior assessments, or team-based intervention plans.

● Participate in student support team meetings across buildings, as needed.

Data and Continuous Improvement

● Collect, track, and analyze behavior and SEL-related data, such as office discipline referrals, time out of instruction, and intervention outcomes.

● Monitor schoolwide and individual trends to support data-based decision-making.

● Assist school teams in progress monitoring, fidelity checks, and adjustments to plans based on student response.

● Contribute to district reporting and evaluation of behavioral systems and supports.

Positive School Climate

● Actively contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive school environment in both buildings.

● Assist with supervision, hallway presence, conflict resolution, and restorative conversations.

● Support consistent enforcement of behavior expectations in a student-centered and instructional manner.

● Reinforce the district’s philosophy that all students are general education students first, and that behavior is taught, supported, and improved through proactive systems.

Qualifications

Required:

● Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s).

● Demonstrated experience in behavior intervention, SEL instruction, and systems of student support.

● Strong understanding of inclusive practices for students with disabilities and those needing behavioral support.

● Effective collaboration, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

● Experience using student data to guide behavioral and academic interventions.

Preferred:

● Experience supporting students with significant behavioral and emotional challenges.

● Experience coordinating or coaching behavior support paraeducators.

● Experience working across multiple school settings or grade bands.

● Leadership or coordination experience in PBIS, MTSS, or SEL initiatives.

● Familiarity with restorative practices, functional behavior assessments and behavior intervention plans.
