Salary range listed is for the 2024-2025 school year. The position is for the 2025-2026 school year which is 180 days at 7.5 hours per day.

Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Soap Lake Elementary School. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of students with disabilities. This full-time position requires a skilled educator who can develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborate with staff and families, and promote the academic and social-emotional growth of students.

Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
- Assess students' progress and adapt teaching methods to meet their individual needs.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to ensure an integrated approach to education.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and IEP documentation.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with best practices in special education.
- Advocate for the needs and rights of students with disabilities within the school community.
- Collaborate with external agencies and resources to support students and their families.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field required;
- Valid WA state teaching certification with endorsement in Special Education required.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in an elementary school setting.
- Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of educators, students, and families.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
- Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning.
