Nature of Work

Under direct supervision, performs all required statistical and clerical duties necessary to prepare hourly, salary, and miscellaneous payrolls. Reports payroll information to required government agencies and district vendors.

Typical Class Responsibilities

Analyzes, calculates, processes, and reviews designated internal and external forms needed to process the district payroll.
Processes employee paychecks, both manual and system generated checks. Checks time sheets for accuracy prior to entry, reduces gross pay by all authorized and required deductions to net pay. Reviews wages computed and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of payroll.
Inputs and maintains data in the district payroll accounting system and generates and reviews quarterly and annual reports to various government agencies.
Performs periodic account reconciliations to ensure the correct accounting for employer costs and liabilities associated with employee wages. Coordinates needed changes with Payroll Analyst and or human resources personnel.
Provides ongoing customer service to employees and vendors.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Training and Experience Requirements

Associate degree and one to three years of applicable work experience.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
