Position Information

This position is 8 hours/day (Monday-Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.). This position is assigned to Karner Blue Education Center. The starting hourly rate is $21.48/hour and there is a $0.75 hourly shift differential. This position is fully benefit eligible, please click here to review the full contract and benefits offered.

Nature of Work

Incumbents are responsible for performing basic custodial work in assigned area. Responsibilities may include: sweeping and mopping floors; emptying garbage; cleaning classrooms, restrooms and hallways; and setting up and breaking down rooms.

Typical Class Responsibilities

Performs a variety of custodial duties including: stripping, buffing, sweeping, dusting, scrubbing, vacuuming, and mopping of floors; cleaning windows and louvers; cleaning and sanitizing sinks, counters, drinking fountains, glass, restroom(s), toilets, and urinals; washing walls, woodwork, chalkboards, baseboards, doors, and handles; and cleaning carpet.
Collects and disposes of trash and recycling items.
Operates and maintains a variety of cleaning and/or maintenance equipment and tools.
Monitors supply and inventory levels and notifies appropriate individual of the need to replenish items; restocks supplies and/or inventory items upon receipt; and prevents the waste or careless use of supplies, equipment, and utilities.
Sets up, moves, rearranges, and breaks down furniture and equipment.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Training and Experience Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

Preferred Qualifications

One year of relevant experience performing similar duties.

Physical Requirements

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.

Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
