Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team at Pratt Academic Center as a 5th Grade Social Studies teacher. The ideal candidate will inspire students to explore the world around them, develop critical thinking skills, and foster a deep understanding of historical events, cultures, and civic responsibilities. This full-time position requires a commitment to creating an engaging and inclusive classroom environment that promotes collaboration and respect among students.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive Social Studies curriculum aligned with state standards for 5th grade.
- Create engaging lesson plans that incorporate diverse teaching methods and materials to accommodate different learning styles.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
- Assess student progress through various evaluation methods, including tests, projects, and class participation, and provide timely feedback.
- Integrate technology into the classroom to enhance learning and engage students in the subject matter.
- Collaborate with other educators, staff, and parents to support student learning and address individual needs.
- Organize and facilitate field trips, projects, and other experiential learning opportunities related to Social Studies.
- Stay current with educational best practices, curriculum developments, and trends in Social Studies education.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge.
- Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment conducive to learning.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification for elementary education with a focus on Social Studies.
- Previous experience teaching 5th grade or a similar age group is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Social Studies content, including history, geography, civics, and economics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Proficiency in using educational technology and digital resources for teaching.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
