Job Description: Empire High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced Varsity Head Coach to lead our athletic program with integrity, passion, and excellence. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the varsity team, including training, development, and mentoring student-athletes while fostering a competitive and positive team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance player performance and team success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to student-athletes, emphasizing sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
- Organize and supervise team practices, conditioning programs, and game strategies.
- Coordinate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and school administration.
- Promote academic achievement and ensure players adhere to eligibility requirements.
- Represent Empire High School with professionalism in the community and in interscholastic competitions.
- Ensure compliance with Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) rules and school policies.
- Manage team logistics, including scheduling, equipment inventory, and budget considerations.
- Engage in community outreach and fundraising efforts to support the athletic program.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Prior coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of the sport’s fundamentals, rules, and strategies.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to foster a positive and inclusive team environment.
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- Must pass a background check as required by the school district.
- Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a varsity or assistant coach.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
- Experience with student-athlete development programs.
