Salary: Pay for this position is determined by the 169-day Teacher Salary Schedule and based on education and experience. Salary Range $45,186-$77,720. Initial and Professional licensed special education teachers receive a $3,000 additional special education stipend.

Purpose of the Job:
To create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs. By developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), you play a crucial role in ensuring that every student receives the tailored support necessary for their academic, social, and emotional growth. Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's Degree required, Masters in Special Education preferred

Experience: 3 years in education preferred

Licenses/Certificates: Must hold a valid Colorado Teaching License or be eligible to apply.

Ability to work cooperatively in a school atmosphere with staff members, students, and the public.
Ability to effectively read, write, speak, and listen to comply with directions and instructions to complete tasks and establish priorities.
Integrity, trust and work ethic to work with little supervision.
Competent understanding of technology to perform the job.
Must pass pre-employment physical.
Ability to perform light lifting and moving of product (up to 50lbs).
Implements appropriate physical and technical safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of district data.
Maintain good security practices with passwords and accounts for the various district systems and applications.
Reports actual or suspected breaches in the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of district data to appropriate district personnel.
Follows all board policies for acceptable use of district technology.

Skills, Knowledge, Equipment & Other:

Knowledge of child and adolescent development.
Knowledge of subject areas, curriculum, and standards-based education.
Knowledge of special education as applied to the needs of the students assigned to the teacher’s particular areas.
Experience in small group instruction, pull-out, and inclusive delivery models.
Knowledge of the general organization and functions of a public school system.
Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflict with students, parents, and community groups.
Effective organization and communication skills.
Must be MANDT trained (training provided).
Able to remain calm in stressful situations.
Proven ability to work collaboratively with regular education staff and specialists.
Familiarity with writing and implementing individual education plans.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Equipment: Computer hardware and software, technology related to the assignment; typical office machines such as copiers, faxes, and phones; and typical classroom equipment, including technology tools such as digital projectors, calculators, interactive displays, etc.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk, or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, feel, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from floor to waist, waist to overhead, waist to floor, and overhead to floor. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to work in a school setting. Travel from site to site may occasionally be exposed to wet and/or humid outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment ranges from generally quiet to increased when working events or with equipment occasionally. Classroom and 1:1 settings and possible outside supervisory duties in inclement weather. Must be able to work in person.

Mental Functions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to analyze and compute. Frequently required to compare, communicate, coordinate, instruct, evaluate, use interpersonal skills, and compile. Occasionally required to copy, synthesize, and negotiate.
