Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Make short and long-range plans for each subject area of instruction and provides case management of the student's IEP
Consults with general education teachers regarding the accommodations and modifications needed by each IEP student on his/her caseload
Provide for individual differences in the learning needs of students
Provide a classroom climate that is based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness and consistency
Monitor student performance and be adaptable to current curriculum needs
Give students prompt and meaningful feedback on their performance
Support students in improving their self regulation skills
Inform parents of student progress in terms of grade-level expectations
Interact positively with students, colleagues, parents and community members
Direct student teachers, educational assistants, student tutors and parent volunteers when such personnel are utilized
Incorporate behavior and SEL goals with academic instruction
Handle student discipline and attendance problems and assist with the enforcement of all school rules
Work collaboratively with co-workers as part of a professional learning community
Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality about students
Perform job-related, non-teaching duties
Participate in staff development activities
Participate in school improvement and parent involvement activities
Perform other such duties as assigned by the building administrator

Qualifications:

Washington State Teacher Certification with appropriate endorsement.
Preference may be given to those with successful special education teaching experience at the elementary school level.
Knowledge of subject matter in classroom instruction.
Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance.
