Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support the educational and developmental needs of young children with special needs at Century Lower Elementary School. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and other staff to create an inclusive and nurturing environment that promotes learning and growth for all students. This full-time position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children and their families.

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8am - 4pm

Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support classroom teachers in delivering instruction and managing classroom activities.
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to enhance their learning experiences.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement in activities.
- Help create a safe and supportive classroom environment by managing student behavior and promoting positive interactions.
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to adapt materials and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge related to early childhood special education.
- Assist with daily routines, including transitions, meals, and personal care as needed.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other educators regarding student progress and needs.
- Foster positive relationships with students to build trust and encourage social-emotional development.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate’s degree or higher in early childhood education, special education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with young children, particularly those with special needs, in an educational or childcare setting.
- Knowledge of early childhood development and special education practices.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with students, families, and staff.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing situations.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with diverse learning needs.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
