Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team at Gooding Elementary School as a full-time School Social Worker. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the social, emotional, and academic well-being of our students. This position involves working collaboratively with students, families, teachers, and community resources to create a positive school environment and promote student success.

Key Responsibilities:

Counseling and Support Services:
- Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing social, emotional, and behavioral challenges.
- Assist students with conflict resolution, self-regulation, social skills, and coping strategies.
- Work with students who experience anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, bullying, and other emotional or behavioral issues.
- Offer crisis intervention services as needed.
Collaboration with Teachers and Staff:
- Collaborate with teachers and school staff to identify and support students with emotional or social difficulties.
- Provide professional development and guidance to staff on supporting student mental health and well-being.
- Assist in creating and implementing school-wide programs and interventions to promote positive behavior and mental health awareness.
- Attendance monitoring, developing plans for chronically absent students, and promoting healthy or improved attendance through various activities or programs.
- Participate in the school positive behavior intervention team.
- Collaborate with other district counselors and/or social workers.
Family and Community Engagement:
- Work with families to address students' emotional and social needs, providing resources, referrals, and support for family-related issues.
- Help families navigate community services and mental health resources.
- Organize and lead family engagement activities or workshops related to student wellness.
- Home visits to families in needs of support services.
- Serving as the contact point for local food bank and other community programs.
Assessment and Documentation:
- Conduct assessments to evaluate students' needs and determine appropriate interventions or services.
- Maintain accurate records of counseling sessions, interventions, and progress, ensuring compliance with school policies and confidentiality regulations.
- Monitor and track student progress and provide feedback to parents, teachers, and administrators.
Advocacy and Program Development:
- Advocate for students' needs within the school and the broader community.
- Develop and implement social-emotional learning (SEL) programs to promote positive development, character education, and mental health.
- Stay current on best practices and developments in child development, mental health, and school counseling.
- Will serve as the district homeless liaison, will be required to maintain homeless program records, coordinating with federal programs, and offering supports to families in need.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Participate in meetings with school teams, parents, and other professionals as needed.
- Contribute to school climate and culture initiatives to create a positive and inclusive school environment.

Requirements
- Master’s degree in Social Work (LCSW, LPC, or similar certiciation preferred) from an accredited institution.

-Valid Idaho State Pupil Service Certificate for School Social Worker or School Counselor.
- Previous experience working with children and adolescents in a school or community setting is preferred.
- Strong understanding of child development, mental health issues, and social work principles.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders, including students, families, and school staff.
- Knowledge of community resources and support services available to families.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in social work practice.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
