Job Title: Driver's Education Teacher
Reports to: Physical Education, Health, and Driver's Education Division Head
Terms and Conditions: Full-time, 10 months, 183 day teacher calendar.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Salary: Per Faculty Senate collective bargaining agreement,
initial placement on the salary schedule between
BA and MA+60 depending on the educational level,
and Step 1 and 5 depending on experience.

Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, IL, a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses, a variety of programs for students with special needs, 103 clubs and activities, and 34 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success, with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 96% graduation rate.

Qualifications:

Valid Professional Educator’s License required.
Bachelor’s degree (BA) from four-year college or university required.
Driver’s Education endorsements required.
CPR/AED certification desired.
Lifeguard certification desired.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Demonstrate a commitment to equity, excellence and high expectations for all students and a commitment to the academic and personal well-being of each student.
Establish and manage student learning in a safe, positive and respectful learning environment.
Develop, plan and implement instruction that addresses the needs of students in a manner that promotes improvements in physical, social and emotional wellness.
Maintain accurate and updated grades for students and adhere to departmental and school-wide grading procedures and timelines.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and case managers regarding student progress.
Collaborate with teachers to incorporate other content areas into the PE/Health curriculum.
Assess student progress, analyze results and adapt instruction to improve student wellness outcomes.
Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth through reflection, teacher collaboration and monitoring and assessing professional learning.
Participate in regularly scheduled professional development as assigned.
Exhibit a high degree of professionalism.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This job may involve supervision of student teachers and/or teaching assistants.
