EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Location: Kaltz Building - ECC

Salary: $45,000-65,000/annually (Negotiable; Commensurate with Experience) Reports To: Superintendent

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or higher in early childhood education or child development. (NOTE: Any bachelor's degree or higher and a ZA or ZS endorsement (endorsements issued by the Department of Education in conjunction with a teaching certificate).
Bachelor's degree or higher in a child-related field with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience.
Montessori credential with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience.
Associate's degree in early childhood education or child development with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 480 hours of experience.
Valid child development associate credential with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 960 hours of experience.
60 semester hours with 18 semester hours in early childhood education or child development and 1920 hours of experience.

All program directors shall have at least 2 semester hours or 3.0 CEUs in child care administration or have an administrative credential approved by the department. These semester hours may satisfy a portion of the requirements of subrules (7) and (8) of this rule. The program director may also use 30 hours of administrative training from MiRegistry to meet these requirements.

JOB GOAL:

To serve as the Building Administrator for all preschool programs at Center Line Early Childhood Center

PERFORMANCE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESINCLUDE:

General supervision of all programs and facilities in the building: ensure all assigned employees are aware of and follow all policies, rules, regulations, directives, and information issues by the Board of Education and Superintendent of schools.
Facilitate and plan for monthly meetings and professional development.
Oversee SACC (school aged child care).
Observe and evaluate GSRP teachers.
Attend and support staff at GSRP Parent Advisory Council/Family Participation meetings held at least two times per year.
Oversight and implementation of LARA requirements for GSRP classrooms which may include but is not limited to management of health and safety trainings for staff, oversight and facilitation of safety drills, room temperature checks, food service requirements and record keeping, maintenance of LARA licensing binder, licensing notebook, parent notification board, and staff files.
Maintain the GSRP and SACC budget, oversee the collection of tuition fees, initiate, and approve all requisitions for GSRP instructional materials and equipment, and make periodic reports to the Curriculum Office.
Coordinate subs and coverage to ensure GSRP and SACC classrooms are adequately staffed to comply with LARA staffing requirements and/or special education program requirements.
Determine classroom assignments and rosters for the GSRP classroom.
Ensure lunch/required breaks for office staff in compliance with federal labor laws.
Facilitate the renting out or scheduling the use of building facilities to responsible community groups according to approved rental policies.
Provide for the health, safety, and welfare of students, teachers, and other employees while in the school, on school grounds, and in Center Line owned or contracted transporting equipment.
Provide proper prescribed measures for the care of injured and/or sick students and other personnel when at school. The circumstances and extent of injury to any student, school employee, or other persons if such injury occurs on school premises or under supervision of school personnel is to be reported to the proper Central Office Administrator and assigned LARA agent, as appropriate.
Issue informational bulletins of significance to teachers, students, and parents regarding all areas of safety and instruction, as it related to the assigned school.
Uphold a school culture of accountability that establishes high social and academic expectations, creates an atmosphere conducive to good citizenship, and develops attitudes and patterns of socially acceptable behavior.
Interpret and promote an understanding of, and support for, the educational programs of Center Line Public Schools.
Establish plans and procedures for the care and protection of school property; inform the Directors of Business and Operation of the condition and physical needs of the school; input all work orders for GSRP and Office Staff.
Fulfill all assigned and unassigned responsibilities; reduce performance deficits to ensure excellence of education programs and effectiveness of instructional procedures.
Model and enforce positive morale for students, employees, and parents.
Regularly attend and participate in after-school building, district, and community events.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Any other function(s) or change in assignments and/or duties/responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Superintendent of Center Line Public Schools.
The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district. Employee shall properly implement Board Policy 3122, Policy 4122, and Policy 2260 on non-discrimination and shall comply with Federal and State laws and regulations, particularly Part 1 104 of Section 504 Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (34 CFR) and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
