Title: Intervention Specialist - Springfield Middle School

Reports To: Principal

Employment Status: Full Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

Qualifications:

Intervention Special Education license from the State of Ohio or ability to obtain one.
Provides an educational program for students as defined by the student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
Works cooperatively with general education classroom teachers, teaching assistants, and other service providers, to modify the curriculum as necessary and to assist with research-based and evidence-based interventions to support students in the educational setting.
Utilizes appropriate assessment, data collection, and progress monitoring methods to assess academic and social performance and to inform instruction and progress.
Communicates regularly with parents and professional staff regarding the educational, social, behavioral, personal, and adaptive needs of students.
Incorporates instructional, assistive, and other types of technology: and upholds the acceptable use policy.
Seeks professional growth and learning opportunities to advance knowledge and skills.
Complies with Federal and state model policies and procedures for the education of students with disabilities completes all required reports and record keeping in accordance with timelines and headlines, maintains confidentiality, and reports to child protective services as mandated.
Complies and follows district procedures and protocols.
Uses effective classroom management strategies to create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment: and is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of students.
Follows prescribed medical plans and/or assists students with personal hygiene care (e.g. toileting, feeding, tube feeding) as trained by licensed health care professionals.
Follows and participates in the development of behavior intervention plans as agreed upon by the educational team.
Participates in all district-required crisis prevention programs.
Adapts to unique circumstances and factors such as student behaviors, lifting/transferring students, and changes in student needs including the number and disabilities categories serviced in an educational setting.
Completes other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.

General Description:

The intervention specialist develops, provides, and monitors specially designed instruction for students with disabilities, according to individualized education plans and federal/state guidelines. This includes the coordination and management of student service delivery, assessments, behavior plans, parent communications, and data collection methods. Caseloads are developed per the Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities.
