Nine Mile Falls School District

Job Title: Substitute Custodian

Clean Floors, Clear Hallways, Fewer Mysteries

Nine Mile Falls School District is seeking Substitute Custodians who are willing to step in when regular staff are out and help keep our schools clean, safe, and ready for the next day. Schools are full of people trying to do important work. Teachers are teaching. Office staff are answering questions while directing traffic. Students are moving from one place to another. Somewhere in the middle of all that, something spills.

Substitute custodians help make the school day easier for everyone in the building. Someone may be sick. Someone may be taking a much-needed day off. Either way, classrooms need to be ready, common areas need attention, doors need to be checked, and restrooms need supplies. It is practical work that makes a real difference for the people using the building every day.

This work is physical, practical, and trusted. Custodians notice what others may not see before it becomes a problem. They help staff do their jobs well, which helps students have a better day listening and learning. The role takes reliability, good judgment, and pride in leaving a space better than you found it. A sense of humor helps too, especially in a school building where the to-do list seems to reproduce when no one is looking.

When schools need extra help, you could be the one helping keep the building moving and make tomorrow feel ready before today is even over.

Compensation: Hourly substitute rate based on the assignment:

Custodian #1: $18.05 per hour
Custodian #2: $21.38 per hour

Benefits are provided through the School Employee Benefits Board (SEBB) at https://www.hca.wa.gov/employee-retiree-benefits/school-employees.
