Job Description

ECEAP Instructional TOSA


Purpose Statement:

The TOSA evaluates and enriches the educational environment by developing and customizing curricula and instructional materials, and by establishing learning objectives that address the individual needs of students in accordance with ECEAP standards and District guidelines. This role focuses on designing and implementing curriculum, meeting individual student needs, differentiating instruction, and modeling lessons for lead and associate teachers. The TOSA also provides equitable student interventions, particularly focusing on Tier 1 and Tier 2 supports. This specialist is responsible for the ongoing assessment of student progress, adapting instruction, and creating behavior improvement plans in close collaboration with classroom teachers and school administration. The TOSA would provide input for classified staff evaluations in collaboration with the ECEAP director, support curriculum implementation, assist with classroom management, model lessons, and provide feedback. Dedicated to coordinating effective interventions, the TOSA ensures a supportive and inclusive learning experience for all students.


Essential Functions:

  • Foster an educational environment conducive to learning and student maturation.
  • Design instructional programs to meet unique student needs and differentiate instruction to align with individual goals.
  • Model best teaching practices and lessons for lead and associate teachers.
  • Provide constructive feedback to teachers on their instructional practices.
  • Implement curriculum effectively to meet diverse student needs.
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Increase communication with families to support student achievement and build strong partnerships.
  • Develop and implement behavior management strategies and academic improvement plans in cooperation with classroom teachers.
  • Analyze and enhance school-wide behavioral systems, including Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS).
  • Engage with the Special Services team to create efficient support systems for student social-emotional learning (SEL).
  • Study and apply strategies for assisting students in managing emotions, improving executive function, and navigating peer relationships.
  • Maintain open, positive communications with students, families, and staff to foster collaboration and support student achievement.
  • Collect and interpret a variety of data to refine and adjust instructional strategies.
  • Create and assist in progress monitoring to ensure effective intervention and instructional practices.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field with a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate.
  • Prior teaching experience in early childhood settings or related areas.
  • Leadership experience preferred

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and support teachers effectively.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT and Salary:

2024-2025 Salary Range: $54,273.00 - $106,990.00 per year depending on experience and degree.  Placement is defined within the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and is generally based upon a combination of Education and Experience.   Other forms of compensation may be available to the hired applicant in addition to their established salary range or wage scale as defined within the current collective bargaining agreement (CBA).
