Job Description:
The Performing Arts Manager provides leadership and assumes responsibility for the direction, coordination, and implementation of all activities and events at the Alverson Center for Performing Arts, Junior High School auditorium, and auxiliary facilities (i.e., scene shop, dressing rooms, etc.). The Manager is responsible for planning and scheduling events/performances and identifying the maintenance needs of the facilities. This position includes supervising and training the student Technical Theatre Club members and any additional support staff in the use of the Alverson Center’s equipment and tools.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate field (such as Performing Arts, Theater Design and Technology) or a solid background and experience in theater arts disciplines with an emphasis on technical theater and audio-visual resources.
Comprehensive knowledge of stage equipment and systems (design, operation, maintenance, and repair) and a willingness to keep updated as technology improves.
Knowledge of and experience in various staging requirements for instrumental, vocal music, dance, lectures, concerts, stage plays, films, and other types of presentations such as may be common to a multi-purpose school/community performing arts facility.
Knowledge of performance area acoustics.
Ability to train students and support staff.
Ability to plan, organize, schedule, supervise and complete work assignments on a timely basis in an environment where interruptions will occur.
Skill in maintaining records and in completing comprehensive reports, including budgets and outcomes.
Ability to assume responsibility with minimal direction, to think independently, and be self-motivated.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer knowledge and a willingness to learn new programs as needed.
Able to work a day, afternoon, and/or evening schedule plus weekends as necessary. Flexible to meet the needs of the center events.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Work with the Athletic Director’s Administrative Assistant to schedule and coordinate Alverson Center events.
Schedule all internal and external use of the auditorium, including generating and communicating a weekly calendar of events to all relevant parties.
Supervise and train the student Technical Theatre Club and support staff in the usage of Alverson Center equipment and tools.
Coordinate student technicians and support staff, and supervise auditorium use.
Monitor facility and equipment operations, facilitating strategies for maintenance, repair, and replacement as required.
Provide information and public relations service to both internal and external customers of the auditorium.
Provide on-site supervision and stage/technical requirements for all scheduled events.
Coordinate maintenance, security, and risk management of the facility and equipment.
Prepare and maintain a rental fee system and agreements for the facility in accordance with district policies and practices and in concert with Director of Finance.
Submit budget needs annually to the Director of Finance in accordance with established timelines and guidelines.
Pursue appropriate cultural events/activities for public entertainment and to generate revenue.
Participate in appropriate seminars, workshops, and professional development activities to maintain and enhance technical and management skills.
Assist with load-ins, stage setups, strikes, and loadouts for facility rentals.
Operate lighting and sound equipment.
Utilize safe stage and audience procedures.
Other duties as assigned.

Salary and Benefits:

Contract Year: 52 weeks
Reports to: Director of Finance
Benefits: Competitive Benefit Package
Salary Range: $50,000 to $60,000
Profit Sharing Agreement: Per Negotiated Contract

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be physically present, able to work at a desk for long periods of time, regularly required to sit.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
