Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to support our Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) program during the Extended School Year (ESY) at Bertha Neal Elementary. This seasonal position involves working closely with children with special needs, assisting teachers in creating a nurturing and inclusive environment that promotes learning and development. The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and possess a strong commitment to enhancing the educational experiences of young children with diverse needs.

Responsibilities
- Assist the classroom teacher in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Support students in daily routines, including personal care, feeding, and mobility as needed.
- Facilitate small group and one-on-one instructional activities to reinforce learning objectives.
- Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and engagement, providing feedback to the teacher.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to create a safe, welcoming, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Help prepare classroom materials and assist in maintaining an organized and clean learning space.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities as required.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student needs and progress.
- Assist in the implementation of behavioral management strategies and interventions.
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their social and emotional development.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or higher in early childhood education, special education, or ETS Paraprofessional Assessment.
- Previous experience working with young children, particularly those with special needs, is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting the development of children with diverse needs.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and respond to the needs of students in a dynamic environment.
- Basic knowledge of child development and special education practices is a plus.
- Must pass background checks and any required training prior to employment.
- Availability to work during the designated ESY program dates and hours.
