Position: ASD Teacher

Location: Orchard View Early Elementary School

Reports to: Building Principal

Position Available: 2025/2026 Academic Year

Requirements:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate

Special Education endorsement in the area of Autism (SV) preferred

Must meet the state requirements in area of certification with K-12 endorsement in:

Emotional Impairment (SE) or Learning Disability (SM) or Cognitive Impairment (SA)

Responsibilities:

1. Must follow district and state curricula and assessment requirements.

2. Knowledge of current curriculum trends in special education.

3. Knowledge and ability to effectively apply the Michigan Curriculum Frameworks/ Extended Grade Level Content Expectations with particular emphasis on teaching, learning and assessment standards.

4. Ability to work effectively as a team member with grade level/department/interdisciplinary team

5. Knowledge of and commitment to regularly use technology as an instructional tool to enhance teaching and learning.

6. Knowledge of and ability to implement on a regular basis cooperative learning strategies and flexible grouping strategies.

7. Knowledge of and ability to implement on a regular basis higher order thinking skill development.

8. Demonstrate ability to develop an interdisciplinary approach to delivering instructional outcomes.

9. Complete and submit all required paperwork, i.e., IEP’s, Medicaid billings, Functional Behavioral Assessments, Positive Behavior Support Plans, etc.

10. Follow and implement all Board of Education policies, administrative guidelines and building regulations.

11. Willing to perform other duties as necessary and/or directed by the principal and/or special education administrator.
