Position: Early Childhood Classroom Associate - EDU Staff

Summary: The early childhood associate takes direction from the Lead Teacher in the classroom. Is responsible for assisting in providing nurturing care to the children and assisting in successfully developing the emotional, physical, social, and intellectual growth of children. The Classroom Associate will adhere to the State of Michigan licensing requirements, Head Start Performance Standards and/or GSRP Implementation Manual. The Classroom Associate will work Monday thru Friday. Must be professional and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications:

● A Current Child Development Associate Certificate (CDA) or

● Associates Degree in Child Development or

● Willingness to comply with a compliance plan to complete a CDA within one year of hire

Essential Functions:

● Assist Lead Teacher in classroom management.

● Prepare snacks and serve to children, keep CACFP paperwork up-to-date.

● Prepare curriculum material/follow lesson plans.

● Assist in maintaining complete student files.

● Support teacher during circle time/small groups.

● Keep classroom and storage areas neat and orderly.

● Assist with set-up and clean-up of the classroom.

● Working in classroom/center-team approach, lesson planning, daily routines, create inviting classroom, follow child abuse rules, ensure the safety of children and implement Curriculum.

● Shall provide appropriate care and supervision of children at all times utilizing Active Supervision.

Starting Date: ASAP

Terms:

● 40 hours a week - during school year (Mon-Fri)

● Paid Holidays, Sick days and PTO days

Salary: $16.70 hourly
