Orchard View Community Education is seeking a passionate and dedicated Out-of-School Time (OST) Coordinator to oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of our before- and after-school programs and summer learning opportunities. This position will ensure compliance with Michigan Out of School Time Standards (MOST) and Michigan Child Care Licensing requirements while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for youth.

Key Responsibilities

Program Oversight:
- Design and manage before-school, after-school, and summer programs aligned with MOST standards and Michigan Child Care Licensing regulations.
- Integrate enriching activities, including STEAM, arts, physical wellness, and social-emotional learning, into programming.
- Oversee project-based learning initiatives and field trip planning.
Staff Management:
- Recruit, train, and supervise program staff and volunteers.
- Facilitate and/or seek professional development to ensure staff adhere to quality standards and best practices.
Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure program environments meet all safety and licensing requirements.
- Develop and maintain emergency procedures and child protection protocols.
Family and Community Engagement:
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about program updates, schedules, and children’s progress.
- Build partnerships with local organizations to enhance program offerings.
Administration and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate attendance, licensing, and grant-related documentation.
- Monitor and manage program budgets in collaboration with the Early Childhood Director.
- Collect and analyze data to evaluate program effectiveness and report outcomes to OST grantors.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, child development, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of two years of experience in child care, education, or youth programming.
Familiarity with MOST standards, Michigan Child Care Licensing, and project-based learning methodologies.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
CPR, First Aid, and Bloodborne Pathogens certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).

Preferred Skills and Attributes

Experience working with diverse and underserved populations.
Knowledge of social-emotional learning practices and child development theories.
Ability to foster a welcoming and inclusive program culture.
