Position: School Accompanist
Location: Reeths-Puffer High School

Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated School Accompanist to join our music department. The accompanist will provide professional piano accompaniment for choir rehearsals, vocal and instrumental performances, concerts, and other school-related events. This role is integral to supporting the success of our students and the music program.

Responsibilities:

● Accompany school choirs, ensembles, and individual students during rehearsals, concerts, and competitions.

● Collaborate with music instructors to prepare and rehearse pieces.

● Assist students in learning and refining their musical performances.

● Provide accompaniment for concerts and special events as required.

● Maintain a professional and supportive relationship with students and staff.

● Perform additional music-related duties as assigned by the music director.

● Additional optional contracted duties include supporting the school musical.

Qualifications:

● Proficient piano skills with experience accompanying soloists and ensembles.

● Ability to sight-read music and adapt to different musical styles, including ability to improvise and read lead sheet music.

● Read/play choral score with at least four parts

● Experience working with vocalists, instrumentalists, and/or school ensembles.

● Strong communication and collaboration skills.

● Previous experience as an accompanist or in a similar role is preferred.

● Bachelor’s degree in Music or a related field is a plus, but not required.

Work Environment:

● May require occasional evenings and weekends.
