Job Title: Campus Safety & Security Officer

Reports To: Director of Facilities & Safety Services / Director of HR & Communications

Position Status: Full Time, 8 hours/day, 194 Days/Year

Salary: $52,000 - $55,000 Annually

Position Available: ASAP, 2024-25 School Year

Position Overview:
The Campus Safety & Security Officer serves a dual role in promoting a safe, equitable, and inclusive school environment. This position is responsible for investigating Title IX-related complaints, including reports of harassment, discrimination, or misconduct, while also maintaining the safety and security of the school premises. The role combines the investigative rigor required for Title IX compliance with the vigilance necessary to ensure a secure learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Security and Safety Duties

  • Patrol school grounds and facilities to ensure the safety and security of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Monitor access points, respond to security breaches, and handle emergency situations promptly.
  • Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency responders as needed.
  • Investigate incidents of violence, vandalism, or other security-related concerns.
  • Provide a visible security presence to deter inappropriate behavior and ensure compliance with school rules.
  • Participate in emergency drills and provide input on improving school safety procedures.

Title IX Investigative Support

  • Conduct prompt, thorough, and impartial investigations into Title IX complaints, including harassment, discrimination, or sexual misconduct.
  • Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses to collect relevant facts and evidence.
  • Maintain confidentiality, accurate documentation, and detailed investigative reports in compliance with legal standards.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, counselors, and legal advisors to ensure Title IX compliance and appropriate resolution of cases.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff and students on Title IX policies, reporting procedures, and resources.
  • Stay informed on changes in federal, state, and district-level Title IX regulations and ensure proper application in school policies.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, education, social work, or a related field (preferred).
  • Certification in Title IX investigations or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience in law enforcement, security, or investigation, preferably within a school environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, staff, and diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of Title IX regulations and familiarity with best practices for handling sensitive investigations.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Physical ability to patrol campus grounds and respond quickly to emergencies.
