POSITION:                           6th Grade ELA Teacher
STATUS:                              Full Time
LOCATION:                          Charlotte Public Schools, Upper Elementary (Grades 4-6)                                                          

ASSIGNMENT/RESPONSIBILITY: Elementary teachers will have responsibilities for 6th grade direct instruction to students.  A wide variety of tasks are performed in the teaching-learning process for students, the primary one being to help students learn the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults. This position is part of a team of 3 teachers, where this position will be responsible for teaching ELA to 6th grade students. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or other related field. State of Michigan teacher certification required. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of elementary school curriculum and philosophy, effective instruction principles, assessment procedures and learning and motivation theory. Demonstrates the personal qualities of an effective teacher including the ability to collaborate with other staff and the ability to communicate well with a wide variety of audiences both in writing and verbally. Demonstrated ability to work independently and, to coordinate and direct the work of others. Demonstrated ability to interact proactively with parents. Prior professional development in early literacy and subject matter literacy.
