Work Schedule: 8 hours/day, 197 days/year

Job Summary:  The School District Health Services Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring the health and wellness of students and staff across our district. This position involves overseeing and coordinating various physical and mental health services programs, collaborating with school staff, families, and community partners, and promoting health education initiatives.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  1. Health Services Coordination:
    • Develop and implement district-wide health policies, procedures, and protocols in collaboration with administrators and other stakeholders.
    • Coordinate health services programs, including vision and hearing screenings, and dental care initiatives.
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations and guidelines.
    • Serve as district point of contact for McKinney-Vento services.
    • Oversee the management of student health records and confidential medical information.
  2. Student Health Promotion:
    • Collaborate with student support specialists, counselors, and educators to develop and implement mental health education curriculum and programs.
    • Organize and facilitate workshops, seminars, and events focused on topics such as nutrition, mental health, and substance abuse prevention.
    • Promote physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices among students through initiatives such as wellness challenges and fitness programs.
  3. Crisis Response and Emergency Preparedness:
    • Develop and maintain emergency response plans and protocols for physical and mental health-related incidents.
    • Provide guidance and training to staff on responding to medical emergencies and administering first aid.
    • Collaborate with local health agencies and emergency responders to ensure effective coordination during crises.
  4. Community Engagement:
    • Establish and maintain partnerships with local health organizations, clinics, and community resources to support student health and well-being.
    • Participate in community health initiatives and advocacy efforts to address health disparities and promote access to healthcare services.
    • Serve as a liaison between the school district and external stakeholders on health-related matters.
  5. Other duties as assigned.

 
Requirements:

  • Current licensure or certification as a Nurse (LPN or RN), Public Health Nurse (PHN), or equivalent, if applicable.
  • Experience in school health services, public health, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social emotional supports.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal regulations related to school health services.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including students, families, school staff, and community partners.
  • CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
