The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.

We are currently seeking a Spring 2025 Youth Career Coaching Intern at Career Connect Downtown Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This position is ideal for a college student looking for a second-semester internship experience.

Align services with KRESA Core Values (Collaboration, Innovation, Compassion, Respect, and Integrity) and Culture & Belonging principles to engage and serve all students
Learn and assist in documenting youth engagement and outcomes using electronic case management systems (e.g., OSMIS, Salesforce, JAG Force)
Support Career Coaches by entering meeting notes, updating youth progress, and tracking goal completion
Assist with the MyCITY work experience and internship program by supporting youth orientations, onboarding processes, and classroom management during training or group activities
Join the Outreach & Enrollment team at community events, school visits, and partner site engagements to connect with youth, promote program opportunities, and share information with potential employer partners
Assist with processing supportive services such as transportation, work gear, or training materials to ensure youth receive needed resources
Track the service delivery and maintain organized records related to each youth’s individual service plan
Conduct follow-up outreach to youth who have exited the program, checking in on employment or education status and offering continued encouragement Record outcomes and provide updates to Career Coaches for documentation and program reporting purposes
Shadow Career Coaches during coaching sessions, group workshops, and employer engagement events to gain a deeper understanding of coaching strategies and youth engagement practices
Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions to expand understanding of youth career development, goal setting, and strengths-based approaches
Work closely with Career Coaches and program staff to support a team-oriented approach to youth success
Contribute to a positive team culture through clear communication, reliability, and a willingness to learn and take initiative

Qualified candidates will be currently enrolled in a college program focused on human services, education, psychology, social work, or a related field with an interest in youth development and workforce programs. Reliability, attention to detail, and a desire to learn in a fast-paced environment are key to success in this role.

This is a flexible (approx. 10–15 hours/week) position supervised by a Program Manager or Coordinator. It is an unpaid internship intended to meet college credit requirements and offers exposure to career coaching, case management systems, and youth workforce development programming.
