The Kalamazoo Regional Educational Service Agency (KRESA) is a critical part of Michigan’s education system serving the Greater Kalamazoo region and provides specialized services to schools and communities and optimizes resources by centralizing innovative programs and services. We partner with school districts and the broader community to offer essential programs including early childhood education, special education, career learning, and educator development, ensuring that learners of all ages receive the support they need.

We are currently seeking Occupational Therapist (OT) at KRESA West Campus in Kalamazoo, Michigan. The essential responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

Coordinates participation in sensorimotor, educational, recreational, and social activities designed to help students develop physical or mental functioning
Collaborate with special education teachers, paraprofessionals, parents, and other service providers to ensure consistent therapeutic interventions across all environments.
Provide training and support for parents and staff on strategies to promote skill development and address challenges at home and in the classroom.
Selects constructive activities suited to student’s physical capacity, functioning level, and interest
Completes OT evaluations of students; evaluates students’ progress and prepares written reports
Identify barriers to participation in classroom activities and create functional goals for therapy.
Incorporate strategies to address sensory processing issues and support children in becoming more regulated in their emotional responses.

Attends and participates in MET, IEP, and IFSP meetings

Qualified candidates are required to have a Master’s degree (M.A.)

The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides therapy services to young children (ages 3-5) with a range of physical, sensory, and developmental disabilities in an early childhood special education environment. The OT evaluates, plans, and implements interventions to help children enhance their fine motor skills, sensory processing, self-help skills, and overall participation in age-appropriate activities.

This is a part time position following the 11-Month Early Childhood calendar in job grade 17 with an hourly rate of pay between $30.72 and $67.77.
