POSITION: School Social Worker

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Building Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in Social Work
School Social Work License required
Practice in a school setting and/or master’s level social work internship
Knowledge and theoretical content in response to intervention strategies
Knowledge of the requirements of state and federal mandates that directly affect school social work services and special education
Ability to work and effectively communicate with administrators, staff, agencies, medical providers, students, and their families
Self-directed, organized, and able to prioritize when given a variety of responsibilities and assigned tasks
Ability to make decisions and problem solve within a team of service providers

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops appropriate IEP goals for social-emotional growth
Provides direct service to students who have IEP goals in social work
Supports consultative services to staff and parents within a defined pre-referral process on behavioral interventions
Provide comprehensive social work evaluation and Response to Intervention using a team process
Coordinates with and provides consultation in behavioral and social-emotional areas for general and special education staff and school administrators working with students
Develops and assists with functional behavioral assessments for students, along with modeling implementation of individual behavior plans for paraprofessionals and teachers as needed
Serves as liaison between the school, family, and community mental health resources for students
Assists with in-service and training for staff and parents on the social and emotional needs of students
Completes and maintains documentation of services provided in accordance with district policies and procedures
Assumes such other related responsibilities as assigned by building principals or Director of Special Education

SALARY: Per Master Agreement - up to Step 9 on the WEA salary schedule with applicable years of experience and Superintendent approval. A $3,000.00 signing bonus will be paid in two equal installments during the 2025-26 school year. Additionally, you will receive a $1,000.00 retention bonus paid in June 2026, as per the WEA Agreement.
