POSITION: Williamston High School Musical Head Director

REPORTS TO: High School Principal

QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive experience in musical theater production and direction
Strong understanding of all aspects of musical theater, including acting, music, choreography, and technical production
Strong management skills; communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Experience managing large groups of students with varying levels of experience and maturity
Availability on nights and weekends, especially the weeks leading up to performances
Bachelor's degree in Theater, Music, Education, or related field preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Choose a production annually and obtain scripts and performance rights from licensing companies
Interpret the script and music to shape the overall creative direction of the production
Plan and conduct auditions, thoughtfully assigning roles to student performers
Oversee and coordinate with directors, choreographers, and musicians to structure rehearsals
Guide actors, singers, and dancers, coaching them on technique, character development, and stage presence
Oversee and collaborate with the choreographer, tech director, costumer, and oversee props, makeup, and set design
Encourage and mentor performers and crew, teaching professionalism, teamwork, and responsibility
Mediate conflicts and ensure a supportive, positive rehearsal environment
Run final rehearsals and ensure smooth transitions into live performances
Oversee set strike, organize materials for future shows, and celebrate student achievement

SALARY: 7% per the WEA Contract Appendix A

STARTING DATE: 2025-26 school year
