About The Role
Under the direction of the administrator and in alignment with the policies of the Ingham Intermediate School District, the Assistive Technology and Teacher Consultant plays a critical role in supporting students with disabilities through comprehensive assessments and the integration of assistive technologies. This position blends expertise in evaluation with a passion for innovative, student-centered solutions that enhance access, communication, and learning. The consultant collaborates with families, local district staff, and IEP teams to ensure each student’s individual needs are met across instructional settings. Participate in MET evaluations and contribute clear, strength-based reports that help IEP teams make informed, student-centered decisions. Conduct comprehensive assistive technology evaluations by analyzing students’ cognitive, motor, communication, and sensory abilities. Recommend and help implement personalized assistive technology tools that enhance student participation, independence, and access to learning environments.
About You
Michigan Department of Education approval (or eligibility) as a Teacher Consultant, including a valid special education teaching certificate. Master’s degree in education or related field, with 3–5 years of teaching experience, including at least two in special education. Expertise in assistive technology tools, access methods, and adaptive equipment.
