Summary: The Teacher promotes and develops successful learning for students, performs instructional and related duties in accordance with District and Board Policies and terms of the teacher contract. The Teacher will also develop and foster relationships with staff, parents, students and the community.

Coordinating services for students with disabilities by providing support, as indicated, on the student's individual education plan (IEP).
Facilitate organizing evaluations and requests for evaluations, administer academic assessments for evaluations, facilitate IEP meetings and coordinate building/classrom assessments for studens with IEPs.
Work with the building support team in development and implementation of interventions to support students.

Other Responsibilities:

Maintains consistent, predictable and physical attendance to meet the requirements of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Special Education.
Possess a Master's Degree in education or a field of study related to special education.
Mininum of 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience, not less than 3 years in a Special Education program.
A strong desire to work with special education students.
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively with teachers across all grade levels.
Knowledge of/experience with special education due process procedures, writing of individual education plans and data collection diesired.
Must meet Highly Qualified requirements as defined by the Michigan Department of Education.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk and hear.
The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust, focus, especially due to concentration on a computer screen and small numbers.
