SALARY:	$26.90 per hour, approximately 25 hours per week (hours may vary)

REPORTS TO:	Building Principal

General Summary
In accordance with the established policies and procedures of the East Lansing Public School District, the GSRP Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting the teacher with teaching-related activities as well as non-teaching activities.
About the Role
Assists in planning, implementation and monitoring of curriculum. Assists in recruitment and selection of eligible students. Assists in establishing a positive involvement of parents. Assists in developing a working relationship with all staff as liaison. Assists in daily operation of the program. Completes other duties as assigned.
Education, Knowledge and Skills Required
Possess either an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood/Preschool Education or child development (preferred); or a Child Development Associate Credential Experience in working with pre-school children Certification of CPR and First Aid Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing Ability to apply common sense understanding and learned skills while interacting with students and adults Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community Self-directedness and initiative when given a variety of tasks and responsibilities Specific physical abilities required by this job include regularly reaching with hands and arms; frequently standing, walking, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and use tools or controls; regularly lifting up to 40-70 pounds and using physical intervention strategies when necessary, i.e. non-violent crisis intervention techniques Specific hearing and vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to be to tell where a sound is coming from and hear in a noisy environment Has experience working with a diverse student population and/or a history of promoting diversity through his/her practices
