About The Role

Under the supervision of the administrator and in accordance with the established practices and procedures of the Ingham Intermediate School District, the Parent Educator shall provide services to families and children from birth to school entry: developmental screening, child and family assessment, family-centered services, service coordination, direct services and collaborative consultation with staff, parents, agency personnel, cultural brokers, and administrators.

  • Makes initial and periodic contact with all assigned families who have an infant, toddler or preschooler.
  • Conducts periodic developmental screening for children birth through age five to monitor and assess their developmental status in all domains: cognition, communication, motor and social-emotional.

About You

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in child development, teacher education, counseling, social work, nursing, psychology or other human services related field.
  • One to two years of progressively more responsible recent and relevant experience; PAT certification preferred.  
  • Knowledge and expertise of child development, learning, family-centered services, and cultural diversity.
