About The Role

Under the direct supervision of the Principal, Beekman Center, the classroom teacher is responsible for providing a developmental and instructional program for assigned students.  The Teacher will focus on development and implementation of student IEP’s, planning and implementation of daily instructional activities, monitoring student progress and providing consultation to staff, paraprofessionals, agencies, parents and administrators.

  • Provides and coordinates an appropriate, positive learning environment with a variety of activities and materials for student intervention and instruction.
  • Prepares and implements daily lesson plans and instructional schedules for assigned students based on Michigan Curriculum Frameworks extended benchmarks, grade level content expectations and individual student goals.

About You

  • Valid Michigan teaching certificate with special education endorsement in the area of Cognitive Impairments or Autism Spectrum Disorders.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in programming for students with special needs.
