POSITION: Discovery Elementary MTSS Coordinator

REPORTS TO: Building Principal Hours: 1.0 FTE

QUALIFICATIONS:

Current Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate with a minimum of three years of teaching experience
Strong knowledge base in scientifically based reading research, best practices, and instructional techniques
Demonstrated expertise in the teaching of reading at the Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade levels
Strong knowledge base and experience in the area of MTSS
Proven ability to teach/coach adult learners in an environment of trust and collaboration
Educational philosophy consistent with the recommendations of the District Leadership Team
Ability to design and implement staff meetings and in-service sessions aligned to the School Improvement Plan

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The MTSS Coordinator is a teacher of teachers, with the responsibility for working directly with adults in order to enable them to become more effective educators for all students.

1. Work with teachers in and out of the classroom as necessary to model and assist with the implementation of effective learning strategies

2. Oversee placement of students into appropriate Tier 2/Tier 3 Interventions

3. Train, monitor, and provide feedback to Tier 2 Interventionists

4. Facilitate data review and school improvement meetings Williamston Community Schools is an Equal Opportunity Employer

5. Serve as a liaison with the Explorer Elementary MTSS Coordinator, IISD administrators, and members of the District Leadership and Implementation teams

6. Coordinate with classroom teachers, special education teachers, and other support staff to ensure appropriate academic interventions for struggling students

7. Provide parent education

SALARY: Per Teacher Contract
