TITLE: Jr/Sr High School Principal
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
JOB FUNCTION: The principal shall serve as the educational leader of the staff and classroom.
DISTRICT DESCRIPTION: The District has approximately 511 students and is located in Southern Michigan. We are located at or near the County boundaries for Calhoun, Eaton, and Barry Counties. QUALIFICATIONS:
- M.A. Degree in Education with an emphasis on educational leadership
- Valid administrative credential or licensure for K-12 education
- Experience in education, with a minimum of 5 years of teaching; former principal experience is preferred
- Demonstrated quantifiable and objective student performance gains
- Proven ability as an effective leader who has demonstrated skills as a team member, team builder, and team facilitator; Ability to foster a collaborative and team-oriented approach to leadership
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task, delegate, and lead by example
- Ambitious and interested in growing as an educational leader
- Motivated individual that has a successful track record with creating new programs
- Analytical problem-solver and solutions-oriented strategic thinker
- Results-driven educational leader with experience in, and commitment to, curriculum and the use of data and assessments to drive instructional decisions.
- Knowledge of data-driven decision-making and school improvement strategies, preferably experience with MTSS and the RTI process
- Visible leader with excellent communication skills
- High level of personal and professional integrity
- Proficient in the use of technology

LEADERSHIP
- Embody and advocate the mission, vision, and strategic direction of the school district.
- Focus on academic performance and ensuring that the school is at a level of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, selecting, evaluating, and retaining outstanding faculty members.
- Serve as the primary instructional coach for the faculty, providing daily observations, feedback, and support on instructional methods, differentiation, classroom management, and curriculum.
- Monitor and enhance a coherent research-based curriculum process in the core subjects, including a multi-tiered system of supports.
- Implement external and internal assessment systems and use data to inform decisions.
- Create, monitor, and sustain high standards of a rigorous school climate and school culture.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate school-wide initiatives and programs.
- Ensure that every classroom is one of rigorous academic performance and superb teaching.
- Assist in conducting weekly staff development with a devoted professional learning community time that supports teacher’s classroom instruction.
- Communicate effectively with parents, students, and the broader community.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Evaluate academic achievement through detailed data analysis of student and teacher performance.
- Provide all necessary resources, training, and materials to the teaching staff to effectively raise student achievement.
- Set and monitor grading policies and practices to ensure consistency across the school.
- Design the school’s academic standards, benchmarks, assessments, and curriculum to align with district, state, and national standards.
- Coordinate administration of all standardized evaluations, including all state, local, and national assessments.
- Document and disseminate the school’s curriculum units and academic processes.
- Assist in preparing and submitting timely reports and evaluations to all external agencies and funding sources as required.
- Manage budgets, resources, and facilities effectively.
- Supervision and management of building events, safety, attendance, and student discipline.
