Position Summary: Bath Community Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated GSRP Lead Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The GSRP (Great Start Readiness Program) Lead Teacher is responsible for the planning, implementation, and assessment of a comprehensive early childhood education program for 4-year-old children. This role involves creating a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and school readiness. The teacher will work collaboratively with a teaching team and support staff to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that prepares children for kindergarten and lifelong learning. This position provides direct student instruction and coordinates the work of the paraprofessional.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement comprehensive, developmentally appropriate lesson plans that align with the GSRP curriculum frameworks and standards.
Supervise and provide guidance to assistant teachers and support staff, promoting professional growth and team cohesion.
Conduct regular observations and assessments of student progress, documenting achievements and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with colleagues and support staff to align curricula, provide a team-based approach to education, and participate in ongoing professional development initiatives.
Engage in regular communication with parents/guardians, including home visits and parent-teacher conferences. Keep parents informed of program expectations, activities, and their child's progress.
Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with GSRP and state requirements, including licensing and programmatic records.
Participate in school activities, meetings, events, and required professional development and trainings.
Maintain a safe and positive classroom environment that promotes learning and development for all children, ensuring physical well-being and safety at all times.
Support children’s social-emotional development using positive guidance and behavior support strategies.
Be familiar with emergency procedures and ensure equipment and facilities are clean, well-maintained, and safe.
Maintain student confidentiality as required under FERPA.
Provide screening and evaluation of each student to coordinate services and assess individual student needs.
Plan activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
Ensure regular and predictable attendance.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with a specialization in preschool teaching. The transcript must document a major, not a minor, in child development for some options.
Valid Michigan Teacher Certification with an Early Childhood Education (ZA) or Early Childhood-General and Special Education (ZS) endorsement. Other early childhood endorsements (ZN, ZO) may also be acceptable.
Meet licensing background check requirements and pass all required background checks.
Have or obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
Proof of a negative tuberculosis (TB) test and a valid health clearance report indicating the ability to work with young children.
Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
Experience working with preschool-aged children in a group setting or early childhood setting.
Strong observational, communication, and classroom management skills.
Flexibility to adjust curriculum and activities based on student needs and classroom dynamics.
Knowledge of Creative Curriculum, COR Advantage, and HighScope.
Familiarity with GSRP regulations and early childhood licensing rules.
Patience, perseverance, a calm nature, and kindness.
Ability to foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with a teaching team and support staff.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Ability to lift, bend, squat, and move freely throughout the day, including getting up and down from a seated position on the floor.
Occasionally lift/move objects up to 25lbs, or occasionally up to 35 pounds.
Ability to stand and walk frequently.
Ability to withstand varying weather conditions when outdoors for short periods.
Ability to withstand a moderate noise level.
Position may require irregular or extended work hours and meeting multiple demands.
